About Glovers

Glovers Project Services Limited is an established multi-disciplinary practice specialising in Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Building Surveying, Planning Supervision and Dispute Resolution. Since its inception in 1979 the company has been adding value to the activities of its client base, establishing a strong reputation which has seen it expand on the back of repeat business and referrals from key customers.

Cameron Middleton & Lees

Cameron Middleton & Lees was originally founded in London in 1924. This makes it one of the earliest established practices in the UK and one of the longest-running.  CML subsequently opened offices in Manchester and Oldham and the practice is now run from a single location in Oldham.

CML has extensive experience in all areas of the construction industry and offers the full range of surveying services including:

  • planning supervision
  • expert witness

The practice is run by Frank Whittaker who has over 40 years experience as a quantity surveyor with particular knowledge of working with local authorities and Government departments.

CML was acquired by Glovers in December 2007 and this move has strengthened the breadth and depth of quantity surveying experience avaliable to our clients.

Key Staff

David J. Baldwin BSc DipArb, FInstCES, FRICS, FCIArbDavid J. Baldwin BSc DipArb, FInstCES, FRICS, FCIArb | Managing Director

David can call on over 25 years experience in construction. Prior to joining Glovers in 1988 he worked in contracting on high profile projects in the UK, Nigeria, Egypt and Tanzania. David is directly responsible for Expert Witness work undertaken by the Practice. He is a registered Adjudicator and Arbitrator, and has been involved in a variety of claims for extension of time, disruption, loss and expense etc on building, civil, mechanical, electrical and process engineering contracts. As a result of the recent growth of the company, David has now taken the role of Managing Director.

Brian Mason DipSurv, MRICS, AMInstCES, MaPSBrian Mason DipSurv, MRICS, AMInstCES, MaPS | Director

Brian has over 20 years Quantity Surveying experience, joining Glovers in 1993. Brian became a Director of the firm in 1996. In addition to offering pre and post contract Quantity Surveying services Brian is the Director responsible for Planning Supervision and heads the Contract Administration Department.

Andrew Brown BSc(Hons), AMInstCESAndrew Brown BSc(Hons), AMInstCES | Director

Andrew has worked for Glovers since 1995 and was appointed as a Director in 2003. Andrew started his career with two highly regarded contractors, and nowadays specializes in pre and post contract QS work and Contract Administration. Additionally Andrew's project experience encompasses both building and civil engineering. Andrew has been studying for a Masters Degree in Construction Law and successfully completed this in November 2005.

Frank has been employed as a quantity surveyor in a professional office since leaving full time education and brings over 40 years experience to the table.  Frank has extensive surveying knowledge gained on a wide variety of projects from minor domestic jobs to £multimillion commercial, retail, education, housebuilding and civil engineering projects.  He has particular experience with local authorities and government departments.  In addition, Frank qualified as a Planning Supervisor in 1995.  Frank is able to offer the full range of QS services including cost consultancy and cost management.  He has also acted as expert witness on numerous county court matters.

Mary has over 10 years experience in all sectors of the construction industry and with dual qualifications in surveying and law she is ideally placed to give practical advice on a wide range of disputes.  Her non-contentious workload includes contract review, commercial advice and the preparation and delivery of seminars.  She also works on a broad spectrum of contentious matters including claims preparation, arbitration support and all forms of ADR. Her specialist field is adjudication and Mary has advised on strategy and represented parties in adjudications ranging from non-payment matters to £multimillion disputes.  Mary is currently developing risk management strategies for contractors and can provide bespoke risk assessment tools for projects.

Alan Whiting MBA Dip Proj Man MRICSAlan Whiting MBA Dip Proj Man MRICS | Project Manager

Alan has over 20 years experience providing both pre and post contract quantity surveying services for Local Authorities and private contractors.  During this time he gained experience of a variety of procurement methods and since joining Glovers from a national building contractor in 2004 he has worked on both pre-construction and construction stage project management on residential and commercial projects.  Alan's experience includes the preparation/submission of tenders, agreement of budgets and assessment of commercial and financial risks on development projects.

Nick White BSc (Hons)Nick White BSc (Hons) | Building Surveyor

Nick joined Glovers in 2003 having completed his degree at Salford University in 2002 and heads up the team which carries out building surveys, condition surveys, asbestos surveys, measured surveys, planning / Building Regulation applications and can also advise and act as Party Wall Surveyor.  Nick has experience running large scale asset management surveys through Glovers appointment as consultants for Carillion Facilities Management for its HSBC Contract. Nick also has site based experience for new build and refurbishment work.
