New RICS form of appointment for surveyors

The RICS today announced that it would be issuing a new suite of appointment forms with a view to simplifying and improving the process of appointing a surveyor.

The new suite of documents have been drafted to reflect the recent changes to the legislative frameworks that govern health and safety and company administration.  Equally the forms are intended to embrace the principles of modern methods of consulting. The RICS hopes that by being clear and concise, the default positions in the appointments will provide a practical balance of risk between the client and the consultant and remove any ambiguity.

The forms comprise a Standard Form of Appointment, a Short Form of Appointment, explanatory notes and co-ordinated services for building surveyors, CDM co-ordinators, employer’s agents, project managers, project monitors and quantity surveyors.
