Glovers launches its new Resolve service

October 2008

The current state of the housing market means that many homeowners are choosing to stay put and renovate their properties rather than face the turmoil of trying to sell. This has led to an explosion in the number of disputes between builders and homeowners as people try to get to grips with the potential pitfalls of building work.

Glovers Project Services has witnessed this rise at firsthand and has noticed that the legal avenues available were not resulting in a satisfactory solution for either party.

It was with this in mind that Glovers has devised its Resolve service which is an independent mediation service aimed at resolving the common disputes that arise on extension and renovation projects.

The idea is that both parties are given the opportunity to put their case to an independent third party who will give their opinion on the strengths and weaknesses of each party’s position and attempt to mediate a solution.

Head of Dispute Resolution, Mary Cross said “Many disputes arise because of a breakdown in communication and once that’s happened it can be hard to get talking again. We hope this service will provide a quick cost-effective solution for those parties who have reached a stalemate.”

The cases will be heard by David Baldwin, an experienced mediator with over 25 years experience resolving disputes in the construction industry and Mary Cross, a construction lawyer specialising in the resolution of disputes.
